Q: How does it work?
Before the show begins, patrons can come up on stage and be part of a lively music session with the cast while enjoying a drink on the stage of the Olympia Theatre. You’ll be up really close to the actors and feel like you’re part of a session in an Irish pub. If you know the songs, why not sing along and sure you can even have a little dance!
Q: How do I get up on-stage?
A: You can access the stage via the stairs at the front of the stage.
Q: What time does the on-stage bar open?
A: The on-stage bar opens one hour before the show. On Monday – Saturday it opens at 7pm for the 8pm show and at 2pm for the 3pm Saturday matinee. The cast come on stage at approximately 7.40pm.
Q: What sort of music is played during the pre-show session?
A: The songs are a mixture of Irish and Czech folk songs. Every night the songs are different so depending on the night you’re there, you can expect to hear The Leaving of Liverpool, Rocky Road to Dublin, Red-haired Mary, Eileen Óg and many more.
Q: Can children go up on-stage?
A: Yes, that’s no problem at all as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Alcohol will not be served to anyone under the age of 18.
Q: Can I take photos and videos on-stage?
A: Yes, you can take photos and videos up until the cast arrive on stage. Once they’re on stage we ask you to please put away all cameras. We’d love to see your on-stage photos so if you’re sharing them on social media, please do tag us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and use our hashtag #OnceinDublin
Q: Do I have to buy a drink at the bar?
A: No, this is not a requirement. You can just go up on-stage and enjoy the atmosphere.
Q: What drinks are served at the bar?
A: You can purchase beer, wine, prosecco or water. Please note that the on-stage bar is a cash-only bar. Cards cannot be processed. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Q: How do I know when to leave the stage before the show starts?
A: There are two ushers on the stage who will lead you off the stage at the appropriate time. This usually happens at approximately 7:55pm
Q: What happens if I haven’t finished my drink by time I have to leave the stage?
A: No problem. You can bring your drink with you. It’s served in a plastic glass which you can bring with you when you leave the stage.
Q: Can I talk to the actors on-stage?
A: Unfortunately this is not possible during the pre-show.
