Sandra Dowd Callaghan – Baruska

Sandra was born and reared in Dublin and studied at Liverpool University. She is currently studying vocals at BIMM.
Sandra took up the piano accordion because of her father, who played accordion in a well-known showband. He passed away when she was a young girl leaving Sandra this legacy.
Up until her teenage years, Sandra played in céili and accordion bands. At 15 she took up guitar and subsequently bass, drums and piano.
More recently Sandra joined a gospel choir. She’s performed as a soloist with the choir in the Olympia Theatre and the Helix. Sandra continues to play trad at sessions in pubs and Fleadhs.
